1999first ladder, first house, first quote handwritten

Stephen Trenka started painting Ottawa homes in 1999, sole proprietor from day one. No franchise, no rotating subcontractors, no upsell desk. Twenty-six seasons later the model has not moved: one painter on the bid, the same painter on the wall, and the same number on the truck.

    Walls, ceilings, trim, doors, closets. Hand-cut lines, two-coat coverage standard, drop sheets on every surface that is not getting paint. Furniture moved, then moved back.

    Stucco, siding, brick, soffits, eaves, fascia, doors, trim. Pressure wash, scrape, prime, repaint. Scheduled for the dry weeks of May through October so the coat actually cures.

    Two or three sample boards painted in the rooms they belong to so you judge them in morning light, evening light, and lamp light before a single drop is committed.

  3. Prep that takes longer than the paint itself

    Furniture moved or wrapped, floors fully covered, switch plates pulled, holes filled, surfaces sanded, edges taped. The clean line is decided here, not at the brush.

  4. Two coats, hand cut, no spray on interiors

    Interior work is brush and roller, hand-cut lines, two coats minimum. Premium paints from Benjamin Moore or equivalent. Ladders moved, not stretched over.

  5. Walkthrough, touch-ups, room re-set

    Every room is walked together. Touch-ups happen before the truck packs up. Furniture is returned to where it started, drop sheets gone. You get the place back ready to live in.
